Forensics (Speech Team)

The Forensics Teams engages in various events that are sponsored by the Virginia High School League. We have several different categories of competitive public speaking including impromptu, poetry, prose, storytelling, serious and humorous interpretation. We are a tight-knit community where student voices are given a platform to be heard and celebrated. We pride ourselves in being a family!

Students have the chance to travel to local competitions, attend online and in-person scrimmages, meet with distinguished speakers such as Michelle Obama, H.R. McMaster, and Dr. Cornel West, and to network with other Speech students from all over the Richmond area. Become a member of the National Speech and Debate Association and Honor Society and become better prepared for a career in public relations, entertainment, sales, law, education, communication, business and management.

Students are expected to attend weekly in-school meetings, attend three in-person competitions during each school year, and participate in at least one virtual scrimmage per a school year.
